Dorm Clean Up

As the semester comes to an end you’re going to have to begin the moving out process which only means one thing: time for dorm clean up! We know what you’re thinking… cleaning can be so boring and routine. Why not switch it up and make it fun? Invite some of your friends over, put on some of your favorite jams and make it a cleaning party!

Now before you get started cleaning, you can’t forget the party snacks! Why not order a pizza to keep everyone energized and ready to clean!

Now to get the cleaning party started, here are a few tips to help you out:

  1. Clean your microwave and refrigerator before returning to us.
    • We know that you probably have been doing a lot of microwave cooking this semester so here’s an easy way to get all the crusty food off the walls of your fridge: soak a kitchen sponge in vinegar and water and set on high for 3 minutes. Then use the steamy sponge to wipe down your microwave (careful, it might be super hot at first!)
  2. Throw out any and all trash including anything that you won’t be needing anymore.
    • All those take out boxes, empty water bottles and old movie ticket stubs are beginning to pile up! Grab a trash bag and clear up some of that mess. This is also a great chance to get rid of anything you might be hoarding.
  3. This could be a good time to begin packing up things for summer break.
  4. Always clean from top to bottom, begin with dusting the ceiling, wiping down cabinets and counter tops and save the floors for last.
  5. When cleaning the floors, first sweep or vacuum, and then mop from inside to out (you don’t want to trap yourself in a corner and have to wait for the floor to dry)!

Don’t forget to consistently keep hydrated and take a few breaks during your cleaning session! You don’t want to get too stressed or tired for the remaining of the semester! By the end of the night, your dorm will be spotless and you will have had a blast with your cleaning buddies!
